Noah’s Ark and the Flood in Judaism and Islam: A Bi-optic Perspective of Salvation and Sacred Space

This article analyses Noah’s ark and the flood events from sacred texts traditions of Judaism Islam in an integrative manner. After juxtaposing Flood Narrative Tanakh Noahic sūrahs Qur’an, key cognate lexemes are examined their ideological trajectories traced. It is argued, particularly, that, addition to evident message salvation traditions, there a discernible motif space both religions, specifically Noah equivalent or associated with temple structure. Further, tradition seeps into various ancillary religious practices, eras Sunnism Shiism. Thus, convergences divergences between Islam, Hebrew Bible Qur’an concerning reception history common patriarch (Noah) shared spaces (ark, temple/mosque) richly variegated bi-optic hermeneutical perspective.
